New Life in Christ in Thailand

There are moments in ministry that remind us why we remain faithful to the task God has given us. This is one of those moments.

BMA Global missionary Siripong Yaebeang, who serves in Bangkok, Thailand, recently shared the joyful news that a man named Mr. Yo has placed his faith in Jesus Christ and publicly declared that faith through baptism.

Siripong first met Mr. Yo in November of last year. Although he had never attended a church service before, he began faithfully participating in worship, Bible studies, and personal discipleship. During those months, Siripong had numerous opportunities to answer his questions and explain the gospel. One thing became increasingly clear: Mr. Yo was diligently reading the Bible he had been given and was sincerely seeking the truth.

Recently, God opened his heart to the gospel.

Mr. Yo confessed his faith in Christ and was baptized before family, friends, and members of the local church. As he prepared for baptism, he shared that he would soon celebrate his 50th birthday and was excited to begin this new chapter of life as a follower of Jesus. He smiled as he explained that his birthday would make it easy to remember the day his new life in Christ began.

His story is especially significant because he comes from a Buddhist background and had never been involved with a Christian church before meeting Siripong. Today, he is the first Christian in his family and the first known believer in his family line. His testimony beautifully reflects the words of 1 Thessalonians 1:9, where people “turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God.”

While we celebrate this milestone, the work of discipleship is just beginning. Siripong has begun a ten-week Bible study with Mr. Yo, walking with him through the foundations of the Christian faith and helping him understand the cost and joy of following Christ. Please pray that he will continue to grow in his faith, remain steadfast in the face of challenges, and become a faithful witness to his family and community.

Please also pray for Mr. Yo’s wife, daughter, and extended family, who continue to practice Buddhism. May God use his transformed life to draw many others to Himself.

Stories like this remind us that God is still changing lives. Through the faithful witness of local churches, the perseverance of missionaries, and the prayers and generosity of God’s people, the gospel continues to reach those who have never heard. Thank you for partnering with BMA Global as we work together to make disciples, train leaders, and plant churches among the nations.
