God Saved a Former Nun

We are writing this special report with great joy to let you know that the Lord saved Ms. Reewa and we got the privilege to baptize her!

Ms. Reewa came from a Buddhist background. She once was one of the most devout Buddhists that we have met in a while. She was serious enough that she became a Buddhist nun for a season in her life. 

But the Lord brought Ms. Reewa into our lives and Church a little over four months ago. Since then, she’s been attending our church, worshipping with us and listening to and studying the Word of God. After she had been coming for some time, we could tell that the Lord was working on her heart. Then, when she heard about baptism from when we baptized a man a couple of months ago, she started asking more questions about baptism and other important questions relating to the gospel and what it meant to follow Christ. The following couple of months, I met with her to share the gospel with her, read the Bible together and answer any questions she may have.

During our time together, I would typically go through and ask at least these five questions:

1. Do you admit that you are a sinner who sinned against the holy God?
2. Do you admit that there is nothing you can do on your own to clean your sins against God?
3. Do you believe that Jesus Christ came to the world, died on the cross, rose on the third day to save you from your sin?
4. Do you believe that Jesus Christ is the only way for your salvation?
5. Have you repented of your sins, turned away your old beliefs/religion and from now on commit to only follow Jesus Christ?

Each time I asked her these questions (in different ways), she affirmed that she believed in Christ! She told me with tears that she believes and was ready to take the next step by being baptized. So we did! I also asked her these questions again before we got into the pool, so everyone could hear her affirmation. Several people from our church and another church we know came to witness & celebrate with us. After the baptism, I saw her secretly wiping her tears every once in a while, overwhelmed with this new chapter in her life at 36.

She’s no longer a Buddhist but has received a new life in Christ! She’s a Christian now! But, her new journey as a believer has just begun. Please pray for her growth and maturity in Christ!

As we labor each day, it’s always our prayer that the Lord will work in the hearts of people, but only the Lord knows who or when. Sometimes a couple of years passes without seeing anyone making a confession of faith or baptism. But there are times when we witness a couple of people in a short time, and this is one of those times. God is still at work and He has the power to save.

We praise God and hope the news about this new sister in Christ brings you joy and encourages you to pray for more people to come to Christ, both in Thailand and where you are! May we continue to  obey Jesus’ command in Matthew 28:19-20 that reads,

“…Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to follow all that I commanded you…”
