Discipleship is not exclusive to Americans or English speakers. It is worldwide, and Sisher is one of many disciple makers around the world who has given his life to the cause of Christ. A Lifeword video producer, he lives in rural Nepal, where BMA personnel recently visited his home and his church.
He says, “I train college students how to share the gospel and how to disciple others then commission them to go to different college campuses. I tell them, ‘Now your responsibility is to share the gospel to your friends and then you disciple others.’”
Sisher continues, saying, “This is how I also work with college students on campuses: I meet them sometimes in a small restaurant or sometimes in my church, and that is where we learn together. And there they are witnesses to what Christ has done for them. That generation is more open to us. That’s what we tend to hear in general is that the college generation is something that different cultures have more open. In colleges there are lots of Indian students or Buddhist students and Muslim students and other cultures.
“So our people, our guides, are already here in colleges. It’s our responsibility to develop them so that they can be witnesses for Christ. That’s how I also gather them and teach them and send them. They share the gospel, and the great thing is that they are very faithful to do so.
“Then they give feedback with each other from each one they share the gospel with. We take accountability or feedback about their sharing of the gospel. And sometimes they share with me, but they also start discipling their friends, which is really awesome.
“College is when they will walk away from the faith. That’s a critical age. And those students who come to faith can lead their families to Christ also. So there are multiple chains of our students who will share the gospel with friends and, when they become saved, will come to faith they will bring their family to Christ.“That’s how I gather them and teach them and send them.”
