Our Purpose
Missionary Care is the ongoing preparation, equipping, and ministering to missionary personnel so they may be fruitful in life and ministry.
The heart and focus of this ministry is to come alongside our missionary families with the aid, encouragement, and support they need to carry out the mission of God.
More simply put, Missionary Care serves our missionaries so they can better serve others.

What We Do

CARE
Missionary Care looks after the spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical health of every missionary (men, women, and missionary kids), at every stage of life and ministry (from commissioning to the grave), and with every need (we find solutions to help a missionary with any burden).

COUNSELING
Missionaries requesting counseling are connected to biblical counselors for pastoral care and support in the difficult seasons of ministry. As critical issues surface, we are proactive in seeing that our missionaries get the help they need. Missionary Care covers the cost of the first three sessions of counseling needs.

COACHING
We care enough to listen to our missionaries and offer coaching so they can continue to grow and develop as mature leaders who serve longer and more effectively. We desire a ministry coach for every adult serving on the field because we believe “iron sharpens iron” (Proverbs 27:17). Our missionaries need encouragers, mentors, prayer warriors, and friends.

CONFERENCES
Missionary Care began with a conference, and we will continue to offer these events to missionary families desiring to connect with their peers for fellowship and mutual encouragement. Our global gatherings provide missionaries with a special opportunity to support one another through face-to-face interactions that are more ideal than what virtual exchanges offer.

COMMUNITY
Missionary Care desires to create stronger bonds not only for our team currently serving but also to foster community among our former missionaries through our Gleaners initiative. Our care team is also developing specialized support for our missionary kids through transition programs to help connect MKs with one another, especially as they prepare to transition from the field to college.

CHURCH CONNECTIONS
Because we believe the local church plants churches, our care team partners with a missionary’s sending church to develop advocacy teams to allow greater individualized support and encouragement. Our missionary families are blessed by strong relationships with both sending and supporting churches and BMA Global’s Missionary Care will continue to bolster these partnerships.
Why is Missionary Care so essential?
Mission organizations report that more than 7,000 missionaries quit and leave the mission field each year. Many of these missionaries are not only lost to the cause of missions, but they abandon the faith as well. Among the list of reasons that missionaries leave the field, 70% resign for reasons that are preventable.

– Dr. John David Smith, President of BMA Global
Our missionaries are more effective and serve longer because of the ministry of Missionary Care.
